My favorites
We all have our favorite works, whether they are books, films, or TV series. And it's not always the works that have received the highest viewership score or performed the greatest at the box office, but nevertheless, they resonate with us in one way or another or have been there for an important part of our upbringing or influenced us in other ways. Here are some of my personal favorites.
The heroes are a villain who may not be a villain, along with a hero who may not be a hero. The real villain is actually a hero, but with somewhat dubious motives and with a lack of control over his own plans. Complex characters, a lot of external action (it's directed by Michael Bay after all), and a soundtrack from another world. What's not to like?
An ordinary man who turns out to be not so ordinary after all. A spy thriller combined with big politics and amnesia that makes the plot even more exciting. "Realism" and larger-than-life coolness in a beautiful union.
Skam took Norway and the world by storm. Series maker Julie Andem reportedly spent a year talking to young people and doing the research that makes this feel terribly real, painful, and beautiful to watch.
No Oscar candidate, but an awful lot of fun if you like slapstick and physical humor. I find the British trilogy about the "superhero" Johnny English to be delicious, light-hearted entertainment.
